God called me to obedience in this way. Is He calling you to obedience in some specific way in your life?

People have asked me why I wrote the book. Why tell my story? Well, I can say, I never intended to be an author, but God did.

God did not cause any of those events in my life to happen. He did not kill any of my babies. He didn’t make us lose the adoptions that failed, but through those situations, I was broken and God delicately pieced me back together, in only a way my Creator could’ve. Then He told me to write His story in my life. It’s all {HIS}tory.

When we are obedient to God, He will use us in ways we don’t expect. He will use the brokeness in us, the joy, the healing, the pain, and so much more.

We often hear the beautiful quote “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” which is a loose translation of 1 Corinthians 1:27-29,

27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world,[a] things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.”

I love the way The Message Bible (a loosely translated Bible version written for today’s pop-culture minded individuals) puts it,

“Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.”

God didn’t need me to perfectly handle the sadness and the incredibly hard times. He just spoke softly to me throughout the 14 years to tell of His goodness and faithfulness throughout the years.

I failed so many times. I questioned myself throughout the writing, editing, and publishing of the book, but God still gently spoke to me and encouraged me to keep pushing forward with the book.

Testimonials are coming in and I’m beginning to receive emails from strangers through my website. Those testimonials speak to God’s presence in the book, not because of me, but because, from the beginning, it’s been {HIS}tory.

So, do you have an area in your life that God is calling you to obedience to? He has a purpose and a plan for that calling. Don’t let the plans of the enemy steal that from you with thoughts of not being good enough, ready, or having enough Scripture memorized. He will prepare you if He calls you.
